One thing we can be sure of is that it is time for our annual fundraiser. As we are planning, we can say without hesitation WE NEED YOUR HELP! Much of what we do at this agency is provide education and support to people interested in adopting and also to people who have already adopted. What that means is we try to be available to help you – now we need you to help us.
On October 17, 2020, we will host a virtual fundraiser, “Music from the Heart: IMAGINE a Bright Future for Every Child.” This is certainly different from what we have done before, but we are not able to assure safety if we have something face-to-face. So, we are planning a great evening that will highlight our annual musical performances by Sonny Leo and friends, as well as stories from our kids and families. We will also have our silent and live auctions. We also plan to have a small number of raffle items – more information to come. But we will have good stuff! We will be having some surprises (as if this whole format is not enough of a surprise). Since we are doing our entire event virtually, we have reached out to One Cause, a national consulting group, to advise and support us on the technical aspects of this event.
Because we are not coming together in-person, raising money will be much more difficult. We rely on this fundraiser to provide many of the services we provide for our families. So, we need you to support us. We will be asking for a small donation for you to be able to connect to the event; you might invite one or two families to come to your home and share this with you. You might donate something for the auctions. We have thought about asking our families (and others if they would like) to consider creating a basket for us to auction. Each year we have a wonderful array of items. Since we will be delivering two winners, it will be important to have the baskets (and items) be somewhat substantial. BY THE WAY, WE WILL HAVE ONLINE BIDDING PRIOR TO THE EVENT. We will need to know of your donations before October 1, 2020.
More information will be forthcoming; however, we wanted to give you time to think about how you could be a part of helping us support families opening their homes to our waiting children. We also want you to be available to participate in our event. No need to get a sitter, no need to question the food being served, no need to get dressed up. You can participate from your own home.

About Sonny Leo
Sonny is a native of Wilmington, Delaware, having taught for the Anna Marie Dance Studio for over 35 years. His professional performing credits span over three decades. Although Delaware has been his home, his performing career has taken him throughout our country. His credits include touring with Freda Payne in the Broadway production of Sophisticated Ladies, working with Anthony Newley in the pre-Broadway show Chaplin, and working with many other greats including Maurice Hines and Dee Hoyt. Sonny has also worked with many Philadelphia theaters including the Walnut Street Theatre, the Kimmel Center, Society Hill Playhouse and the Penn’s Landing Theater.
Sonny became a member of “our family” when he adopted his son through A Better Chance for Our Children.

Raffle & Silent Auction
Last year’s donations included a variety of items such as salon gift certificates, fine art, and passes to Disney World! We are looking for prizes that are at least $50 in value. Each prize at the event includes a mention of the donor, so everyone at the event will get to see your name and what you donated!
You will be recognized in the event website. Your item will be certain to attract those who know you well while introducing your business to potential new customers!
If you do not have a product or service to display you may consider purchasing an item that is sure to draw a crowd (the newest “it” bag perhaps) and have your company name and logo as the donor of the item.
