Why your support matters
Our programs are primarily funded through state contracts, which help us provide essential services to children and families. But state funding only covers a portion of what it truly takes to help a child heal and thrive.
The truth is, there are critical gaps:
- Resources that help parents build strong, lasting connections with their children.
- Therapeutic supports that give children the tools to process trauma.
- Family-centered events, respite care, and more that create a community safety net for our families.
- 24/7 lifetime support—because our families never face challenges alone. Having someone to call when all hell is breaking loose is invaluable.
- Emergency funds—our families can focus on their kids without worrying about how to replace the broken refrigerator, or how to pay for a therapy not covered by insurance.
These are the moments and services that change lives, and they aren’t covered by state funding.
That’s where you come in.
Your generosity bridges the gap, ensuring that every family we serve has the resources, guidance, and hope they need. When you give to our annual fund Friends of ABC, you’re not just funding programs, you’re helping a child feel safe, a parent feel supported, and a family feel empowered.
See the Difference You Make
Every quote below is a real message from a parent whose life was touched by your generosity. Each one is a glimpse into the hope, healing, and second chances you helped create.
“ABCFOC has been a huge support for me and my family. Post-adoption did not end the needs that my family experienced- gift cards, meals, school supplies, holiday gifts, and even a listening ear is what I have been fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of from this organization. Each time that I have reached out for help, they’ve been there. They have offered me a nonjudgmental space of support and encouragement, and I am extremely grateful.”
“When we adopted our oldest, ABCFOC gave us a $500 Target gift card to buy her some necessities since her foster mom was refusing to give us her belongings until she turned 18, which wasn’t for another three weeks. My kids always appreciate the Christmas presents that ABCFOC gives us. They just support you every step of the way.”
“When I’m in the middle of a crisis, even at 3 am, I can text them for support. Being able to reach out is just so incredible.”

Mission-Critical Operational Support
Our annual fund serves as an important resource for covering administrative costs for the day-to-day function of our organization, from keeping the lights on to attracting and retaining experienced, passionate Child and Family Specialists who can provide the high-quality support our children and families deserve.

Staff Training and Development
Families trust us with their most vulnerable moments. Ongoing training equips staff with the tools to address emerging issues, from trauma-informed care to cultural competency. Training also provides our team with strategies to better manage the emotional demands of their work, preventing burnout and enhancing their own resilience.

Facility Improvements
We hold trainings, support groups, Rec-n-Respite programs, and community events in both of our locations. It is important to us to maintain a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for our families.
“We support A Better Chance for Our Children because of this agency’s unwavering commitment to finding loving homes for children with special circumstances. For the past 10 years, we’ve witnessed their deep personal dedication – going above and beyond – showing love and support for everyone.”
