There are over 500 children waiting in Delaware’s foster care system. Each one of them deserves a safe, loving, and permanent family in which they can thrive.
Our programs are primarily funded through state contracts, which help us provide essential services to children and families. But state funding and insurance, only cover a portion of what it truly takes to help a child heal and thrive.
The truth is, there are critical gaps.
- Gaps in the resources parents need to build strong, lasting connections with their children.
- Gaps in therapeutic supports that help children process trauma and develop healthy coping skills.
- Gaps in family-centered events, respite care, and community experiences that create a safety net for families who often feel isolated.
- Gaps in 24/7, lifetime support, because challenges don’t happen on a schedule, and having someone to call when everything is falling apart can change the outcome.
- Gaps in emergency funds, so families can focus on their children instead of worrying about how to replace a broken refrigerator or pay for a therapy not covered by insurance.
These are the moments and services that change lives and they aren’t covered by state funding.
